An Unspoken Repercussion Of Sexual Abuse Within A Family, Is This:
Not often spoken about or understood, is that if one child gets selected and groomed for sexual abuse, someone else in their family may become jealous. Why?
Because and simply put — they were not selected or chosen.
As a result, this family member may start feeling not good enough, rejected, not as pretty, and so on. And henceforth this could create a difficult relationship between the victim and the ‘non-victim’.
We all know that siblings or parental jealousy and competition occurs in some families. However, in this case you would think the non-victim would be only too relieved, not to have been selected.
Or, they may have been selected (and indeed abused) on previous occasions, but upon seeing a new and possibly younger victim selected, this could result in feelings of rejection, anger and jealousy.
But besides the lifelong physical and emotional repercussions that the victim may have to deal with, the non-victim may continue feeling this jealous rage, right into adulthood which is often then projected onto relationships or any authority figure or organisation that takes someone else’s side, dares to ignore, disregard or overlook them for…
