Authoritarian Bullies Usually Lose In The End.
Authoritarian Bullies Usually Lose In The End.
Yesterday, I was reminded of someone I had known for many years who had been a controlling authoritarian and who often resorted to bullying her staff.
Sadly, she was forced to retire and to this day she refuses to speak of those days knowing that it had ended in disaster. “The mills of the gods grind slowly”, and as a result, her staff left and not before wreaking revenge. In the end her business failed.
Thinking back I was also reminded of clients and others who, whenever they chose a path that expects others to obey, are the same ones that like to tell others either,
1. What to do,
2. They like being told what to do, or
3. To do as I say or there will be consequences.
However, over time this never works. And today I read an article about Robert Mugabe who died a bitter man due to his brutal dictatorship that “had people burnt alive in their huts and any opposition dig their own graves”.
For me, these and there are many more reminders that controlling authoritarian and bullying behaviour may work in the short term but never in the long run.
