Do You Realise Just How Emotionally Draining Drama Queens Can Be?
There are many wisdom sayings on the internet about drama and how it should be avoided — but do you understand why?
Drama drains.
If you’re aware of your body, then you may also be aware that drama drains.
It can be so easy to get involved with gossip or drama because life happens and we can so quickly be ‘taken away’ from focusing on our own lives. But at the same time, drama can be draining because it’s destructive and can take up a lot of time.
Usually drama starts with one person involving a group of others.
People involved in the drama are often not fully aware of the consequences of their actions, what they are doing, what they might be setting up and especially what they are saying about themselves. Sometimes drama can involve bullying and it can get very ugly.
It can also be very stressful for those on the receiving end.
The point I want to make with this article is that the person who starts the drama, usually feels quite awful about themselves, so they project their negative feelings onto others. You then pick up this negativity often without realising it. And if you could just stop for a minute to feel what your body is feeling, you may be surprised at what you find.
Usually it’s pretty negative. You could feel sick or nauseous, you could feel bad and depressed, you could feel guilty and, you could even feel energetically dirty like you need a shower. This is why drama can be so draining. It is destructive and it is negative. So why get involved, if this is what it can do to your body?
Why not ‘hand back’ the projection?
You are not helping anybody by becoming part of their drama. And you are certainly not helping the person who starts and likes drama. And you may want to consider this too — if you are colluding with the drama queen then you may also have low self-esteem issues and you may feel awful about yourself too.
Isn’t it therefore more constructive and more responsible to work on self-esteem or self-worth issues? Because projecting what you cannot deal with onto others, isn’t taking responsibility for your own actions and it can have negative consequences. Sure it might get you attention but the attention might be or become negative as people around you start thinking of you as a trouble maker.
So let’s all take the time to reflect and let’s all think twice before getting involved with a drama queen.
