Drawing Up A Will Is Not Enough. You Also Need To Create A File Containing Your Personal information. Why?
Drawing up a will is not enough. You also need to create a file with all your necessary information — for those who will have to sort out your affairs. Yet doing so, is often swept under the carpet. This is because even though we know something needs to be done, we don’t always have the time or the inclination to do it. For some, the fear of dying can create an emotional paralysis, which can also prevent them from sorting out the practical side of things.
People can die without leaving wills or instructions but most importantly — few bother to leave a file with all the necessary bits of information that people will need to know upon any death. This is when loved ones or friends can get faced not only with having to deal with grief, but also the harsh reality of scrambling around trying to make sense of everything.
A friend told me this, “As an estate agent I deal with this all the time. People have no clue of how brutal the process is, and it IS truly brutal. And there is just no account for people’s feelings or for the grief people may be experiencing”. But also…
